The PSC 3/4"-30 Spline x 3/4" Round Woodward Universal Steering U-Joint is a premium weld-on steering joint designed for precision, strength, and zero backlash performance. Commonly referred to as a 3/4"-30 spline joint, this U-joint fits current model GM power steering systems including 600 series steering boxes and servos using 600 series components (Appleton, small style Sweet, and similar setups).

The weld-on side is machined with an actual bore diameter of approximately .755"/.753" to accommodate 3/4" OD tubing, which is typically slightly oversized. This ensures proper fitment before final welding in custom steering shaft applications.

Specifications

  • Spline Side: 3/4-30 Spline (.720-30)
  • Weld-On Side: 3/4" Round
  • Actual Bore Diameter: .755"/.753"
  • Style: Plain Weld On
  • Bearing Type: Caged Needle Rollers with Preload
  • Application: GM 600 Series Steering Systems
  • Benefits:

    • Virtually eliminates backlash
    • Lower reversing inertia for improved steering feel
    • Enhanced sensitivity and steering precision
    • Ideal for race and off-road applications

Fitment

  • GM 600 Series Steering Boxes
  • GM 600 Series Servo Systems
  • Appleton Steering Components
  • Small-Style Sweet Manufacturing Steering Systems
  • Custom steering shaft builds using 3/4" OD tubing

Important Notes:

  • Weld-on installation required
  • Verify spline count and shaft diameter before ordering
  • Intended for performance, race, and off-road applications

Tech Insight

Traditional automotive steering joints can develop play over time, reducing steering response and driver confidence. Woodwards caged needle roller design with slight preload removes internal slack and reduces reversing inertia, meaning faster response to input and more accurate steering control.

In high performance and off-road applications, eliminating backlash in the steering system dramatically improves feedback and reliability under stress.
