The Wide Open Design Rock Bouncer X Chassis is the next evolution of our original Rocketship platform, built from years of real-world trail riding, racing, testing, and continuous refinement. This updated chassis replaces the original design with key upgrades that improve visibility, suspension packaging, shock clearance, and overall performance. Designed for hardcore trail riders and rock racers, the Rock Bouncer X gives builders a stronger, smarter foundation for an extreme 4x4 buggy.
Compared to the original Rocketship chassis, the Rock Bouncer X features a narrowed and lowered dash bar for improved driver visibility, updated rear mounting provisions for trailing arms and bypass shocks, narrowed front frame rails for increased bypass shock clearance, and two rear frame rail configuration options depending on your suspension setup. Like all Wide Open Design chassis, it is engineered to handle severe off-road abuse while remaining serviceable, reliable, and easy to build around. We have also developed a full line of compatible parts and accessories to help simplify your build process at home.

Tech Insight
The Rock Bouncer X was built to improve on the original in the places that matter most when a buggy is used hard. Better visibility from the lowered dash bar helps the driver place the car more confidently on climbs and technical obstacles. Improved front and rear chassis packaging also creates more room for bypass shocks and suspension components, allowing better tuning and more suspension options without fighting chassis clearance issues.
Wide Open Designs HD approach uses thicker .188 wall tubing in high-impact areas instead of making the entire chassis overly heavy. This gives the Rock Bouncer X better resistance to dents, bending, and trail damage while still keeping weight in check. Replaceable rock sliders, removable crossmembers, and chassis-specific support parts all make this platform easier to build, maintain, and repair over the long term.
