The kit includes Timken bearings and races along with seals, shims, hardware, and setup materials commonly replaced during differential service.
GM 10.5" 14 Bolt axles are widely known for their strength and large ring gear design, but proper bearing preload and gear setup remain critical. This version uses the early-style pinion seal with a 2.200" hub diameter and includes the correct pilot bearing configuration for 19891998 axle assemblies.

The GM 10.5" 14-Bolt rear axle is widely used in heavy-duty truck applications because of its large pinion support, massive carrier bearings, and strong ring gear design. Even with its reputation for durability, worn bearings, crushed preload spacers, and fatigued shim packs can create gear noise and premature wear over time.
When rebuilding a 14-Bolt differential, replacing all preload and bearing components is critical to maintaining correct backlash and gear tooth contact patterns. Reusing worn crush sleeves or bearings can result in inconsistent preload, excessive heat, and shortened gear lifeespecially in towing and off-road applications where driveline load is significantly increased.
